Sending Email Promotions

Email Promotions

We generally think of email promos as annoying “junk mail” that is constantly bombarding our inboxes. However, business owners can use email marketing to their advantage. Putting a simple form on your website that allows people to sign up for email promos is a very good idea if you want to market your product.

People do read email newsletters/promos if it seems interesting enough. If you allow people to sign up for your emails when they want to and don’t buy/steal their email addresses, they will be more inclined to look at your emails.

When sending email promos, don’t just pack a bunch of ads into it, give free tips that can practically help your reader. People are constantly seeing ads, but they will pay more attention when they see something that can actually help them.

Maybe you don’t have the ability to generate nice-looking HTML emails with colors and images – that’s OK! You can make emails with plain text look good too.

A LOT OF TIMES PEOPLE WILL SURROUND BLOCKS OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION WITH A BUNCH OF +, ~, `, =, OR ^ SYMBOLS FOR EMPHASIS. MAKING LETTERS ALL CAPS ALSO HELPS DRAW ATTENTION WHEN WRITING EMAIL PROMOS.

Usually, people will only read the subject line before deciding whether to delete an email promo or not. This means you must make you subjects very catchy. Instead of putting an ad in the subject (ie, “Get Our New Cookbook for Half the Original Price”), describe the free tip you have put in the email (ie, “Learn the Trick to Keep from Burning Cookies in the Oven”).

Using A Desktop Email Client

UPS Email

In the last post I showed the benefits of having an email address with your own domain name. In today’s post I’m going to cover an aspect of email that has really helped me personally as well as in business. Desktop email clients can be a very helpful tool for your company.  They pull incoming emails from the server so that they come right onto your desktop. This way you don’t have to login to check your email, and you know right away when you get one!  This allows you to respond to any future customers as quickly as possible. With desktop email clients you can also send emails. You are also not limited to any amount of storage your server gives you, because all the emails are stored on your local computer. There are many desktop email clients out there, one of the more popular ones being Microsoft Office Outlook. But obviously, you have to pay for that, and you aren’t alerted when you get an email. But never fear; there are some free ones that do alert you when an email comes in. I recommend one of these two:

Yahoo! Zimbra
Incredimail (This one comes with ads, if you don’t want these you must buy the full version.)

Getting an Email Address with Your Domain

Email Address With Your Domain Name

In the last post I discussed the advantages of having your own domain name. In today’s post, I am going to go over the advantages of getting an email address for your domain. If you have an email address with your own domain name, your email will not end with the @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc.; it will end with @yourdomain.com. It is best to get an email address with your own domain, especially for your business. Why? First of all, it makes your business look more professional. It’s also good because your not tied to the email client you use; you are your own email client!

You can always forward your emails to another other email account, that way you get all your emails in one place. Almost any domain registrar allows you to set up an email account. It’s very easy to do, and doesn’t take long. After you get a domain name, look into getting an email too – you won’t be sorry you did!
